Women's Studies is a central site for interdisciplinary teaching and research in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State. As a field of study, Women's Studies analyzes the unequal distribution of power and resources by gender. By adding the perceptions, contributions, and experiences of women, this young and vital field of research and teaching has produced an exciting body of knowledge and theory that transforms traditional areas of study.
Women's Studies majors find career opportunities in a wide variety of fields, from business to politics, from publishing to human services work, from education to art. Recent Women's Studies majors are now employed as legal advocates, managers, journalists, and teachers. Whatever career path Women's Studies students choose, they bring an articulate awareness of the complexities in contemporary society and a capacity to envision modern society in multi-faceted and exciting ways.
