Women's Studies Graduate Community

We congratulate Heather Ondercin, who will graduate this term. Her dissertation has been selected as the best dissertation on women and politics in 2007. Heather is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Political Science and the Women's and Gender Studies Program at LSU. Great work!

Women's Studies encourages interdisciplinary and promotes collegiality among students and faculty. We coordinate many events throughout the year that bring together our graduate students and faculty from different departments and colleges across campus. Some of our regular events include:

  • Women's Studies Graduate Organization - creates intellectual networks and conducts various events including an annual conference
  • Feminist Scholars Series - four prominent scholars visit Penn State each year to present cutting edge work
  • Informal gatherings where students, faculty and staff relax together, celebrate achievements, and introduce new colleagues into the women's studies community
  • Women's Studies Newsletter - our newsletter is a forum for interdisciplinary discussion within women's studies as well as the larger community.
